@Len F. , I live in NC as well. How do they Hornets not bring in enough money to the city for them to keep staying there. You do realize that they host 41 games and the opposing teams have fans that travel to see the games. That's a ton of revenue coming into the city

@Len F. , Unfortunately though, Charlotte is just like any other small market team. It seems now that players either want to play in California or NY or Miami. Boston and Philly might be an exception. The reasoning behind the supermax contract was for teams to be able to keep their star players. Unfortunately, players are willing to leave 50 or even 75 million dollars on the table. I guess the league should drop to 12 teams, 6 in each conference. Have the players vote for 6 cities in the West and 6 cities in the East the they would most want to play in and let it go at that. Charlotte, Pacers, Bucks, Cavs , Suns and a couple of other teams just can't compete with big market teams

I wonder if any of these players that keep flip flooring teams will get their numbers retired. Like will Jimmy Butler for example get his number retired. Probably not.

No they don't. These players could care less about chips. If that were the case some wouldn't leave good situations for a possible flop. The players you're referring to actually did care.

No, it isn't out of control. This is the most exciting summer in NBA HISTORY. Seriously, an old Chinese women came up to me and spoke in broken English and told me she thought Kawahi was going to the Lakers. I've never seen so many people that didn't watch basketball be so excited about things. This is exactly what the NBA needs. Having one strong team and no competition is BORING. This is what the NBA used to be like.

Mark my words, demanding trades is going to result in the owners going on Strike. At the rate we are going the top 20 best players on going to end up on a handful of teams and ruin the league because they will bankrupt small markets, which means less TV advertisement, less merchandise sales, fewer endorsement deals, etc. In fact, I can envision a day when 5 of the top 10 best players will join forces and go after a 9-peat to break the Celtics record of 8 straight. The owners will want to protect their interests and the only way to re-negotiate with the Players Associate is to go on Strike and temporarily shut down the league...as has been before.

I think that's not even what Adam Silver is talking about...it seems like there's something more going on here and we're going to find out very soon what he's investigating...just saying ... There was a report that Kawhi asked for shares in TFC from the Raptors... So maybe they're investigating the whole Kawhi transaction... I know a lot of owners are very upset about the Paul George request and demand and got exactly what he wanted and let's be honest Adam Silver works for the owners not the players...

  39. Larry Allen

Really it's a simple solution if you sign then later on demand a trade make them pay that years salary back to team that their bolting on meaning that 40 or 50 million i had invested from the year before i want it back now you can go wherever you want

  40. Jason Tidd

Teams are the employers so yes they can do whats best for their business the team but the players are employees and like any other job the employees get paid to do their job and that's it so the players should not be allowed to all for trades at all they are getting their huge money and they and should just do their job unless you want the thugs to run the bank

  41. Ant

    Ant4 months ago

So it’s wrong for a player to request a trade when they want , but a team can release/trade a player when they want to. It’s only fair.

Just remember..... the owners, the league and the refs aren’t good at playing basketball. Just like these two idiots. Stay in your lane. The players should start their own league. It’s not hard to extort and exploit poor people, every industry does it.

  48. Slayer8957

Getting rid of mid-season trades would end all player leverage because sitting out games would accomplish nothing. Good idea. I dont know about 1 years deals though. I like two year deals with player options for third years being the new standard.

both players AND owners got the right to do what's in their best interest -- get that cheddar ! if I invest hundreds of millions in a business, and some 'asset' wants to leave -- and he has ever right to do what's best for his legacy and his money -- then I also have every right to voice concerns.
